Chicago

My friend won tickets to the Watermark concert in Chicago so Jamie and I made a trip up there this weekend. Overall it was a great trip. I got to hang out with some friends I met last time, go to the concert, and lead worship at Joe and Elizabeth's church sunday morning.

The concert was great. It was Watermark's last concert. Christy Nockels is such an amazing singer. The girl can just sing!! After the concert I got a little hungry and happened to have some cheese crackers in my purse. We began walking down the stairway and back to the car when I spotted Christy and Nathan. "Oh look, there they are," i said casually. We walked over said hey and got out pictures taken. It was a cool way to end the night.

Sunday morning I led worship at Grace, their church. I played electric while leading, which was a little different for me. The songs consisted of I am Free, Be the Center, How Great is Our God, and In Christ Alone. I can't describe to you the look on everyone's faces when I started the service off with the intro to I am Free. Many people seemed to engage during the music time. It was a great experience.

The thing I love the most about visiting Joe and Elizabeth is the people. I've never met such welcoming people. I've only met these people 2 times and it seems like I've known them all my life. Everyone remembered who I was and welcomed Jamie as well. It's good to have a place where I can visit and feel so welcome.

This makes me wonder. What should I/we be doing to make people feel welcome in our communities??
