Have you ever wondered what's in a bagel?? If you have keep reading, if not...you may as well just stop reading at this point, because it won't be interesting to you.

Now, where was I...oh yes, the contents of a Bagel...

A Bagel is a bread product traditionally made of yeasted wheat dough in the form of a roughly hand-sized ring which is boiled in water and then baked. The result is a dense, chewy, doughy interior with a browned and sometimes crisp exterior. The dough may also be flavored to produce many varieties such as sourdough, whole wheat, multigrain, cinnamon-raisin,blueberry etc.

The bagel originated in Central Europe, probably in Poland. A 1610 document from Krakow mentions "beygls" given as a gift to women in childbirth. Although there are many suggestions as to when the bagel came to be, its official origin is unknown. Immigrants in the 1880s brought the bagel to New York City, where it continues to flourish. Until the 1920s, bagels were rare in other parts of the United States other than a few cities with large Eastern European Jewish populations. The bagel came into more general use throughout North America in the last quarter of the 20th century.

In order to preserve the freshness and taste of the bagel for consumption within the next five to seven days, allow them to cool in a paper bag and then store them in a refrigerator in a closed paper bag which is wrapped tightly inside a larger, plastic bag.

To revive a refrigerated bagel to near fresh-baked status, slice the bagel in half and lightly moisten, or 'banetz' (Yiddish term for 'moisten') the surfaces with a small amount of cold water. Toast or bake the bagel until it is hot throughout and slightly crispy on the surfaces. Reheating in a microwave oven will not produce the same result as a regular oven or toaster.

Alternately, bagels can be frozen whole or in halves and reheated in a toaster or oven. Place the room-temperature bagel in an airtight freezer bag and freeze. To thaw, moisten lightly (see above) with cool water and toast or bake. Bagels freeze well for up to six months.

There you have it people...some info on "the bagel". You may be thinking, Krista...why did you even want to know what a bagel was made of??? Well, tonight Nicole and I went to Panera(our usual spot) and talked and because Panera has GREAT bagels, we wondered...what is in a bagel?? And now...my question has been answered!!

Balderdash!!!

After conquering this game(mostly because Kate helped) I have decided it was a good purchase by my fam. Sometimes, I don't give them enough props...but not tonight. Tonight I'm giving props to my fam for buying this game. I had played it once before at another thanksgiving party a few years back, but it's nice to have the "love of the game" sensation back. For those of you who have never played Balderdash you should try it. I may need to plan an upcoming "Balderdash Bash". Yes, that sounds like a fun idea. People, get your full of crap answers ready...because there's soon to be a
"BALDERDASH BASH!!!"

Now that's what I call a good guitar day!!

GUITAR

According to Webster-a flat-bodied stringed instrument with a long fretted neck and usually six strings plucked with a pick or with the fingers.

According to me- a great source of entertainment and pure enjoyment

A few years ago, on an IWU trip, I randomly decided I wanted to learn to play the guitar. I was taught a few chords, and the rest I picked up on my own. I began learning on this cheap guitar my dad bought in mexico. Amazingly enough, it worked. I played it all the time. Then one day I decided it was time to change the strings. That's where I made a bad deicision. You see, the cheapness of the guitar would not allow that to happen, so after taking off all the strings I was stuck with a guitar that didn't work.

Ebay was my out. I went to a local music store, saw and played a guitar that i loved, found it on Ebay and purchased it. It was probably one of the best uses of my money yet. So here's my guitar. It wouldn't be odd to see me with it basically wherever I go.

Today, my guitar and I had a fun adventure. I noticed on some of the strings had a little divit in them. Since I am playing in Big House this weekend, I decided to go get some new strings on it. My strings had just been changed a few weeks before so I wasn't excited to spend some more $$ on them, but it seemed necessary to me. I informed "Shane", the west music guitar guy who always helps me with my guitar, about the divits and he put a brand new pair on for FREE within five minutes. Now that's what I call a good guitar day!!

Through the years...

And here I am, once again, just enjoying listening to Jenn...
Jenn and I have had an interesting relationship througout these past 5 years. I met her when my parents went to Hawaii on vacation. She stayed with me for 2 weeks. Those two weeks were difficult. I was not very nice to Jenn and I basically avoided her at all costs and we had many interesting moments. But then, I got over myself. I began taking piano lessons from Jenn and Jenn began leading a small group I was in called "Focus" (which is something we rarely did. Slowly we got to know each other better and then one day she began leading the youth band. This meant that I saw Jenn every sun, tues, and wed. She began to let me help her lead worship and now our relationship is great. I am enrolled in "Jenn's school of piano". Oh piano, that reminds me, I need to practice...so Jenn, its been fun getting to know you!

Do they see Jesus in Me?

Is the face that I see in the mirror
The one I want others to see
Do I show in the way that I walk in my life
The love that you've given to me
My heart desires to be like you
In all that I do all that I am

Do they see Jesus in me
 Do they recognize your face
 Do I communicate your love
 And your grace
Do I reflect who you are
In the way I choose to be
Do they see Jesus Jesus in me*

It's amazing that you'd ever use me
But use me the way you will
Help me to hold out a heart of compassion and grace
A heart that your spirit fills
May I show forgiveness and mercy
The same way you've shown it to me

Well I wanna show all the world
That you are the reason I live and breathe
So you'll be the one that they see
When they see me

Remembering...

As I was sitting in my room this afternoon, listening to christmas music and looking at my box of memories from my "trinity lutheran school" years, I got the urge to call my friend molly and see how she was doing. Molly and I have been friends since kindergarten, but we were best friends in 7th and 8th grade. What I love about her, is that I can just call her up after not talking for months and nothing is awkward, it's as if we had just talked yesterday. We talked about how our lives were and remembered our old school days together. We had many fun times together...

* We jumped in her nasty green pond on a cold day(wearing our winter coats, hats, and gloves) and took pictures of ourselves posing on the logs coming out of the pond

* Did contests to see who could stay on the phone for the longest time with other friends and teachers

* Filmed many videos-music videos, documentary's, and news broadcasts

* Talked on the phone every night

* I once saved her from charging horses on her farm

* Accidentally grabbed the electric fence

* Cried when our friend Michelle left

* Painted her basement with what was suppossed to be a beautiful red but turned into puke red-it will never be the same again!

* Took care of her baby chickens

* Went for a million bike rides around the neighborhood(and we always had to walk to the gas station first to fill up the tires)

* Played Kick the Can till wee hours of the night

And these are only a few of the adventures we had together. It was a great time of remembering and laughing so hard I was almost crying. Friends are one of the greatest things in the world. Without them, life would be a lot less interesting and fun. With all that to say, I'm very glad I have people like Molly in my life!

Meet Jerry

Sometimes Jerry is loud. Sometimes he is quiet. Sometimes I don't hear him at all. But let me back up and explain...

My '92 honda accord tends to have issues sometimes. Let me explain...I love my car. I am very thankful that my parents let me use it and for having as many miles as it does, its doin great!! But sometimes, it needs a little love. Over these past few weeks whenever I turned on my car it squealed. I'm not talking about some little squeal...I'm talking about a loud, annoying, high pitched squeal.

Andrew is a regular passenger in my car. I take him home from places a lot since he just lives a few minutes away. He birthed the thought of Jerry. One day, as I started my car and it began to squeal he said "STOP THAT JERRY!!" And ever since we called the squealing Jerry.

Jerry was fixed today. I took him to the car shop today after school, and his belts were tightened and he no longer exists. Sorry Andrew...Jerry is gone...and I am glad!!!

Now, I don't have to turn up my music, think over the squeals, and most of all go down the street constantly sounding like i'm squealing my tires or something.

My Friend the Laffy Taffy

What did the grape say when the elephant stepped on it??

*Not much, it just let out a little whine.

Where do cows go to have fun??

*The Moo-vies
