You're telling me that there's no hope.
I'm telling you your wrong.

SCHOOL TIME!!

I know what most of you are thinking! School, WHAT?? NOW???? Yes! I'm in school. I find it funny that I've been doing everything backwards. I graduated early and was OUT of school when everyone was IN school and now I'm IN school when everyone's OUT of school. I'm taking 2 classes at Scott Community College. Publice Speaking and some general Computer class. My public speaking class is hilarious. It's 3.5 hours long....crazy!! My teaching is this crazy, loud, interesting black women who gets excited about everything. So far the 2 classes I've been to have gone by rather quickly. Despite some obstacles such as driving from chicago at 4:30 am to get to the first class ontime and staying up late talking on the phone the night before my 2nd class. But hey, that's what college is all about right?? Havin a great time and making some great memories!

My computer teacher honestly scares me. He is a retired sargeant of the army, smells like smoke, and doesn't give a crap whether we come to class or not because either way he gets paid the same amount. I am only asked to stay during the 1st hour which is lecture time and then I am free to go home and work on my assignments. I love the freedom this class gives me!

I know nothing else about the college. I know the halls make me feel like I'm in a sterile hospital. The students range from my age to grandma's. No one really knows who or what the mascott is. The book store has a lot of gear saying "Scott or Scott community". I must admit I will not be buying any of this, unless of coarse i get the "Scott" gear and that would only be honor of my boss Scott Schaefer, for letting me intern with him.

So high school is gone, college has come, and I'm ready!!

Thanks to those of you who have encouraged me along throughout high school and supported me already in these first few days of college:)

Cleaning Gone Wrong

As some of you may know, Laurel and I will be visiting Chicago this weekend. In preparation for the trip I decided to clean my fish/frog tank.
I decided the kitchen sink would be the closest and most convenient place to do this at. I don't exactly have the supplies to get my fish and frogs out of the tank so I found random kitchen items to complete my task. Knowing I may accidentally let a frog or fish get loose into the sink I plugged it up an even put a paper towel over the plug. Sure enough the first frog went pouring out right into the sink. I quickly grabbed him with my hands and threw him into his temporary bowl. The 4 fish were easily transferred into the bowl. Then it dawned on me, "Where is my other frog?" Hip(my frog) was stuck between the rocks at the bottom of the tank with no water. I dumped the rest of the tank, rocks and all, into the sink. He was ok and I got him safely to the bowl. Now both frogs and my 4 fish were safe. I began rinsing the tank out and the water level in my sink began to get to full. Now what does one do when the sink is too full?? You empty it, of coarse. So I pulled the plug free and I heard, "plunk." One of my glass rocks had fallen into the disposal. I spent the next 20 minutes trying to find this rock. Ever few minutes I'd turn on the disposal only to hear the attempt of this handy machine trying to chop it up. There were no flashlights to be found so I grabbed a lamp, removed the shade, and used it as my spotlight. My parents were in bed, my brother didn't want to help me. My search began to get annoying and I was tired so I just left a note saying, "Mom/Dad, I was cleaning my fish tank and a rock fell into the disposal. Don't believe me? Turn it on and you'll hear it clanking around in there. SORRY!! Love, Krista" With that I finished putting my pets back into the tank, took them downstairs and went to bed.

This morning I woke up and headed downstairs. Underneath my note was a note by my mother saying, "Krista, I felt aournd-don't think its there. I turned it on and it sounded fine... Mom"

I suppose its down with the rest of the sewage of the quad cities.
Yet I can't help but think, "What the heck!!!"

Chicago

My friend won tickets to the Watermark concert in Chicago so Jamie and I made a trip up there this weekend. Overall it was a great trip. I got to hang out with some friends I met last time, go to the concert, and lead worship at Joe and Elizabeth's church sunday morning.

The concert was great. It was Watermark's last concert. Christy Nockels is such an amazing singer. The girl can just sing!! After the concert I got a little hungry and happened to have some cheese crackers in my purse. We began walking down the stairway and back to the car when I spotted Christy and Nathan. "Oh look, there they are," i said casually. We walked over said hey and got out pictures taken. It was a cool way to end the night.

Sunday morning I led worship at Grace, their church. I played electric while leading, which was a little different for me. The songs consisted of I am Free, Be the Center, How Great is Our God, and In Christ Alone. I can't describe to you the look on everyone's faces when I started the service off with the intro to I am Free. Many people seemed to engage during the music time. It was a great experience.

The thing I love the most about visiting Joe and Elizabeth is the people. I've never met such welcoming people. I've only met these people 2 times and it seems like I've known them all my life. Everyone remembered who I was and welcomed Jamie as well. It's good to have a place where I can visit and feel so welcome.

This makes me wonder. What should I/we be doing to make people feel welcome in our communities??
